Firstly, commiserations to the Sandiway Ladies who lost in the final of the Liz Wilson Trophy at Stockport on Sunday to a very strong Royal Liverpool team who had both the ladies Cheshire champion, and the Ladies Senior Cheshire champion in their team. A great effort in retaining the trophy.
Alison Hunt, Jenny Parsons, Alison Barber, Sue Fearon and Geraldine Morgan Wynne represented Sandiway in what should of been a trip of a lifetime at Turnberry in the Help the Heroes national final, but unfortunately hurricane Gonzales spoilt the experience.
The competition was intended to be played over 2 days, with prizes for individual and team performances. There were also on-course prizes for longest drives and nearest the pin, in which Alison Hunt won the longest drive on the 1st hole. Well done to Geraldine Morgan-Wynne who had the best ladies stableford score on the Monday with 28 points.
Tuesday is when the hurricane arrived and the ladies were saying that their trolleys were being blown over and a driver was needed on a 112yard par 3.
Unfortunately the competition has to be suspended after 9 holes of the second day as the wind had become just too strong. The ladies finished a very creditable 4th place.
The Four Nations on is competed on Saturday (ShotGun start at 9:30am) which is always a very popular event, and will be again! I am sure it will be a very closely contested event, but looking at the teams, I think the Welsh side will take the honours.
There is a free lesson for all the Welsh team at 8:30am on Saturday!!
I was invited on Wednesday by the PGA to play at Royal Liverpool in the RBS Golf Day, a great opportunity to play one of the best courses in the country especially with The Open fresh in my mind. I could not believe the difference in the course with the stands not being up, these two pictures were taken from a very similar position on the 18th hole.
The course, as expected, was in great condition and to be in very similar positions to Rory, Sergio and the rest of the guys in contention was a great experience.
