I hope you've all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to another weekly newsletter.
Medical Vase
The standard of golf on display on Sunday was nothing short of fantastic. Thirty one players scored a nett 72 or better, but they still would have been ten shots behind an unbelievable score by Richard Tims. A gross 67 which included no bogeys, 15 pars and 3 birdies playing off a handicap of 5, netted to a 62. A great score Rich, well done.
Jonathan Carter continued his good run of form, after winning the John Wood Cup a few weeks ago, he shoots a nett 65 to finish second. John Andrews must of thought that his 66 was in with a chance, but unfortunately was only good enough to win Division 1, nevertheless a great score John. In division 2, it was Jonathan Bates nett 68 that took the honours.
The twos were worth £4.78 and have been credited to your account.
Coronation Trophy
Fifty one ladies played in the Coronation Trophy on Thursday and once again the scoring was very impressive. Megan Sumner won the event with 38 points, playing off a handicap of 4 she had eleven pars one birdie and a fantastic eagle on the 10th hole which produced 5 points. Well played Megan. A single point behind Megan was Barbara Laird, a very impressive and steady round included 15 pars one birdie and two bogeys.
Ladies Weekend Medal
Nine ladies played in the Medal on Saturday and Lynn Shopland took the honours in both the gross and the nett. Her nett 72 was a shot ahead of Sue Puffett.
Sandiway Corporate Day
Twenty one teams braved the horrendous weather on Tuesday for our annual corporate day, unfortunately the weather won and the teams were called off after 10 holes. The course stood up fantastically well to the rain and the competition still went ahead and the scoring was surprisingly good considering the weather.
The car was safe on the 18th, with the hole playing right into the teeth of the wind only two players managed to hit the green. Big thank you to Richard Blake of Auric for sponsoring the 18th and for the car for a hole in one. A special mention and thank you to Charles Hewitt and Kevin Dickens for all their hard work in making the coporate day successful.
Spring Meeting Dinner
Twenty five of us had a great night last Saturday for the Spring Meeting dinner with some very good speeches by all the winners. A special mention and congratulations to Joe Munro for getting his name in gold letters for the first time.
Coming Soon
Arriving soon in the shop before any of the major online competitors will be the first electric trolley that is fully linked to the Motocaddy GPS app. This works via a Bluetooth connection on any smartphone allowing the trolley's digital display to be used in place of a conventional GPS, offering front, middle and back distances to the green along with par of the hole, plus a clock and round timer. At only £549 I can see this trolley being very popular.

US Open Sweepstake
After Sergio heroics at the Masters, the second major of the year will take place at Erin Hills built on the farmland of central Wisconsin, Erin Hills is a new track that looks old. It has a Scottish feel with an American twist and is demanding even in non-U.S. Open conditions. Many have compared it to Chambers Bay, site of the 2015 U.S. Open.
The course didn't open until 2006, but it looks as if it has been there since about 1906. The backdrop for the nation's championship will be stunning. The natural landscape and perfectly-manicured greens and fairways make for a staggering beauty in the heart of the country. The course can play up to 7,800 yards with a closing hole that can sit nearly 700 yards from glory.

The popular sweepstake is now up and running at £2 per player, with some daily prizes up for grabs for both the best and worst scores of the day, As well as the usual 1st, 2nd, 3th and 4th prizes.
Looking Ahead
A busy month ahead for Matt and myself, firstly Matt will play in the Cheshire & North Wales Open at Northop, before I will be teeing it up at Fairhaven in my quest to qualify for The Open at Royal Birkdale.
I am also looking for three members to play in a Pro Am at Hazel Grove on Friday, 30 June. Please contact me here for further information.
Away from golf, I will be watching the Lions first test against the All Blacks on Saturday, 24 June (not very confident after the first two game) in the clubhouse at 8:30am, I have spoke to Gary and Fiona and they are happy to sort a little breakfast if we get enough members interested, please let me know if you would be interested.
