It was good to see the European Tour on home soil this week, The Grove in Hertfordshire hosted the British Masters. It was the in form Alex Noren who took the title, and makes it 3 wins in 8 starts. Noren has jumped the world rankings moving from 471st to 18th in 18 months golf. He finished two clear of Bernd Wiesberger and 3 ahead of Lee Westwood. Remind me again why he wasn't in the Ryder Cup team?
Next Years British Masters has just been confirmed on the European Tour schedule for Close House In Newcastle which will be organised and promoted by Lee Westwood.
Last weeks ladies 4BBB competition was won by Alison Green and Jennifer Sanderson who scored a fantastic 40 points. Second place just one point behind the winners with 39 points was Carol Astall and Brenda Burnett.
The ladies weekend medal was battled out in some awful Sunday rain. Congratulations to Carol Liversidge who was victorious with a nett 76 beating Alison Green on a count back who also had a nett 76. Well done to all who played and finished in the poor weather.
The Elisabeth Wilson Scratch Shield was won by Royal Liverpool on Sunday, after they beat Crewe.
This weekend is the popular Four Nations Competition. England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland will consist of 22 players each and will battle it out in a better ball format. No prizes for guessing who I will be rooting for, and if it's anything to go by the Football over the summer, then Wales have a great chance!!

#100 girls
The 100 Girls campaign is going from strength to strength, on Monday we visited Weaverham High School and introduced 55 girls in a double session of coaching using the Tri Golf starter kit. In just ten months we have introduced golf to 231 girls between 9 and 13.
On top of this 76 girls have attended the
FREE taster session, and eleven girls are going thru the Passport course with
Matt every Saturday afternoon.
Thank you to
Ruth Elliott-Smith for organising the school visits and all other hard work she is doing promoting the campaign.
The six hour drive was well worth it!! The annual Sandwich Links Pro-Am down in Kent this week with
Charles Hewitt, Greg Hewitt and
Simon Hope was once again a great trip and event.
We were not mentioned in the prize presentation but nevertheless we gave it our best shot.
We did receive some disappointing news on the Saturday that we weren't playing Royal St George's due to emergency course maintenance work and that both competitive rounds would be played at Prince's.
This did not spoil the three days as Prince's was in magnificent condition and I can honestly say that they were the best and consistent greens that I have played on this year.
The scoring for the event was nothing short of phenomenal with the winning team score coming in at -35 (-19 first round & 16 second round).
I haven't experienced scoring like that before. Our -12 finished in tied 12th position out of 24 teams. My two rounds of 74 (+4 total) also finished tied 12th.
As it has been all year it was hard work out there at times, but showed signs of improvements and thoroughly enjoyed the two rounds.
Big thank you to
Charles,
Greg and
Simon.
