Welcome to another edition of the weekly newsletter, it has been another busy week, with club competitions, an Invitation Day, a divot party and a nice Pro-Am at Moortown.
The breezy conditions last Wednesday made scoring very tough with only Stephen Loom playing to his handicap, junior member James Pearson came second in division one with a nett 72, beating David Lees on a card play off.
While in division two playing with his new Titleist SM5 custom fitted wedges Colin Fulton took the honours with a nett 71, two shots ahead of Simon O'Connor.
The scoring on Thursday was much better in the ladies Medal with our Ladies Vice Captain, Dorothy Larmour coming in with a five under par score of 67 to win the Silver division by five shots from Joan Langley.
In the Bronze division Geraldine Morgan-Wynne won with a nett 70, three shots ahead of Lee Done. Nice to see Emma Tipping playing well as she won the best gross with a 74.
In the Ladies weekend medal it was Helen Close who won with a nett 74 while Carol Liversidge won the best gross with a 90.
Great news for our Ladies A team as the team of Alison Hunt, Jill Peters, Sally Brown, Lesley Brown, Sue Wilson, Enid McVittie and Christine Paterson beat Royal Liverpool in the Semi Final and will now play Delamere Forest at Eastham Lodge. Congratulations Ladies.
A full field on Sunday saw Trevor Langley and his guest Bill English win the Autumn Invitation with 45 points, their back nine of 23 points was better than Steve Cartwright and Dave Lloyd who also finished with 45 points on a very high scoring day. Joe Stimpson and guest beat Mike Kelsall and guest to third place on count back after both pairs finished with 44 points. There were a further four scores of 43 points that did not feature in the prizes.
The twos for the day have been credited to the members account with £6.90 per two.
A fantastic turn out for the divot party on Tuesday evening, we managed to finish the whole course in just under two hours, which is a great effort.

The Captain and I finally stopped the rot last Saturday, after three consecutive defeats we managed a half match against
Dan Gurney and
Brian Johnson in our latest Captain and Pro Challenge.
If it wasn't for
Brian's 25ft putt on the last for a half we would of won, but the word "if" is a big word in golf.
Once again it was a great game played in the right spirit, another tough game coming up on Saturday against the foursomes finalists
Tim Hardwick and
Shaun Reid.
Before that match on Saturday, the Captain and I will be hoping to qualify for a few days in Spain in the Golf Plan Captain and Professional Challenge. Before we dream of Spain we will first have to beat 63 other Captain and Professionals in the Regional qualifier at Dunham Forest. So fingers crossed for us on Friday.
Better news for the Assistant Professional and the Junior Captain as they won their first match this week, first of all against
Lyndon Alexander and
Matt Darwent, before halving their second match against
Lee Milke and
Dave Cross on the last green on Tuesday. Please check the notice board for dates if interested in taking on
Matt and
Cameron.
At the time of writing this weeks content,
Matt and I will do battle this afternoon in the Cheshire & North Wales Matchplay.
A report will be in next weeks newsletter. I guess that will depend on the result!!!!
