We welcomed our new Captain Mr Bobby Larmour on Monday, I can see a few lessons coming my way after his first tee shot, but Mr President kindly gave him a mulligan, and his second drive was straight down the middle.
Congratulations Mr Captain and good luck in your year as Captain, I look forward to taking the members on in our Captain and Professional matches.
At the same time I would like to congratulate Terry Oates on his year as Captain, and to enjoy his golfing trip to America this week.
It seems to be a nice habit at the moment, but there was another hole in one at Sandiway on Monday. Geoff Shankey had his first hole in one on the 6th hole. Well done Geoff.
A great entry on Sunday as always for the May Medal which was also the qualifier for the Lombard Trophy. John Andrews won division one with a net 68, two shots clear of Neil Wallace with Simon Hope third with a net 70.
Division two was won by new member Paul Hawkins with a net 69 a shot clear of Russell Badger with Brian Cooper third.
It wasn't the best day to have a two but they did pay £5.64 and they have been credited to your account.
It will be Simon Hope and myself representing Sandiway at Dunham Forest in the Lombard Trophy in July, let's get some practice Simon.
The first round of the Ladies Spring Meeting was washed out last Thursday, hopefully some better weather this week.
Won my first winnings of the year on Friday, playing in the committee golf with Simon La Frenais, we lost on a card play off to John Millington and John Denton.
I now have £14 on my shop account, I'm sure I'll find something in my shop to spend!!
It was nice to play Porthmadog on Saturday in Peter Bright's retirement competition, after over forty years as the Professional he had a great turn out and always nice to play my home course.
On a serious note I shot 74 at Hadley Wood in the Foremost Championship last Thursday, the weather wasn't great but the course was in excellent condition and hopefully I'll do a little better in the Regional Qualifiers for the Ashworth Cup.
Not sure if you have seen the National Club Golfer magazine this month, but the first of my articles is in there.
This month concentrating on a good takeaway.
It is the last week that you can take advantage of the £25 for your old battery promotion.
