Hello golfers,
I hope you've all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to another exciting edition of the Sandiway Golf Club Professional shop weekly newsletter bringing you up to date with all the latest news and offers from within the walls of Sandiway Golf Club.
Last Thursday, I attended along 30 or so other local Club Professional for this years Foremost Spring Workshop at Mottram Hall G.C. I love these type of days as it's a great chance to network with other Pros and exchange ideas and share stories, and you'll be interested to hear that nearly 90% of the other clubs there where closed last Thursday. Again showing how lucky we are here at Sandiway. One club has only been open for 5 days in the whole of 2016.
The highlight of the day for me away from the business side of the meeting was Foresight Sports the makers of our GC2 launch monitor announced a new and exciting upgrade that will add another dimension to our club fitting & coaching here at the club, so watch this space for more info on how you could become the first person within the club to test it out.
Darren Bromley Davenport makes back to back wins in Division Two on Wednesday when he won the Midweek Stableford with a fantastic 41 points. This was after his 41 points in Demuth 4 in January. Congratulations Darren and get that handicap down. Darren was three points clear of regular lesson taker Brian Moynihan, keep up the good work Brian.
Meanwhile in Division One, it was Mike Barber who took the honours with 37 points. Mike took advantage of my 6 for 5 lesson offer and it is good to see improvements not only on the range but also on the course. Tom Duncalf was second with the same score. It was a great day to have a two, as they paid a very nice £13.12.
Forty four ladies played in the stableford on Thursday which included one mulligan each. Wouldn't it be great to have one of these each week. I must start by congratulating Jane Johnson on another hole in one, this time on the 6th hole. Her second hole in one in six months. Sue Wilson won the silver division with 30 points, with a better back nine than Lesley Brown. While Waveney Oakley won the Bronze division with 25 points, two points clear of Christine Simpson.

Overseas Golf
Matt is currently playing over in Portugal in the North Region Overseas Pro-Am. I wish him all the very best and I will keep you all posted with how he is getting on.
We had a great weekend in Ireland last weekend, apart from a slightly rough journey back on Monday no thanks to storm Imogen. And I am sure if the game had another 5 minutes we could have turned a draw into a win. Even so it was a great game played in great spirit. I have had a great response to the Pro-am schedule, two more Pro-Am booked up this week, including the Ladies Pro-am at Brough Golf Club in April.
New FootJoy Shoes
The NEW 2016 FootJoy DNA are looking great and the first nine pairs will recieve a FREE Footjoy DNA shoe bag. Pop in and have a look, they are certainly an improvement on last year.
Check Your Grips
You might of seen in the shop my new GRIP WALL. I see so many members using clubs that might of never been regripped since the day that they bought them. I have increased the number of grips I stock, so that I can offer you members the best possible grips to suit your hand size and game.
The grip is one of the most important components in golf and the only part of the club that you actually touch. Grips are made of materials that age and wear as a function of time and use. Ozone, heat, dirt and oils from your hands all age your grips and cause the natural degradation of the grip.
The traction that a fresh grip provides lets you hold the club lightly without the subconscious fear of losing the club during your swing. This relaxed state promotes proper swing mechanics and wrist action. While a worn grip causes you to grasp the club tighter, causing arm and wrist tension that inhibits proper swing mechanics and leads to a loss of power and control.
A new set of grips is an inexpensive and fast way to bring a noticeable change to your game. Pop in and Matt or myself will check your grips to see if they need changing.
